kubfu (m) inner focus - aerial ace, detect, dynamic punch, scary face, close combat, iron head

tonight, a FULL MOON shines down upon them.

still not hearing back from Killian Decker, matias' patience runs low on waiting around on information that may or may not prove useful.

taking matters into his own hands, he's out in the safari zone with his kubfu, who despite hours and hours of training, has yet to evolve.

but matias knows better than to force it. which is why he's never made his annoyance known to the fighting-type.

instead, he wears a smile, calm as ever.

their first encounter makes its presence known with a powerful EARTHQUAKE. it rattles the very foundations of which they stand on, and matias can't help but stumble slightly, tensing at its power.

when it eventually subsides, he nods at his kubfu, allowing the fighting-type to run off to hunt down the cause of it.

soon enough, they find a larvitar.

its IRON HEAD meets kubfu's own as the two of them clash in the middle. shockwaves reverberate, but it is kubfu that comes out victorious.

one final CLOSE COMBAT, and down larvitar goes.

"nice work."

their second encounter summons a surge of PETAL DANCE that washes over both of them. matias raises an arm, defending himself against violent petals as he watches kubfu rush into the thick of it, DETECTING a presence not too far away.

when the PETAL DANCE subsides, matias sees his kubfu locked in a battle with a bulbasaur. it doesn't take long for the fighting-type's AERIAL ACE to down the grass-type.

"nice."

kubfu's getting stronger.

and matias' pokemon storage is getting busier.

sorry, bronzor, but matias simply can't spare his remaining two safari balls on you this time. besides, the green coloring is a bit strange, no offense!

kubfu readies itself to fight but matias shakes his head and avoids the bronzor altogether.

"it's fine. we'll let that one be."

admittedly, he's started to grow fond of the species after borrowing kyle lopez's bronzong.

SCORCHING SANDS is a move he's rarely seen, so it manages to catch them by surprise when the drilbur sends some their way. it burns against kubfu's fur, singeing, but it doesn't do nearly enough to deter the fighting-type.

"CLOSE."

drilbur slows the moment it meets kubfu's SCARY FACE. it locks it in place, unable to evade the strong AERIAL ACE that follows. the impact sends it into the ground only to be caught by a safari ball shortly after.

this won't be the night of kubfu's evolution, sadly, as their last encounter isn't one matias wants to battle. it looks too cute for it.

"hello, little one."

he holds a hand up, stopping kubfu from closing the distance. instead, the fighting-type looks on curiously from a distance, meeting the pumpkaboo's SCARY FACE with one of his own.

"would you like to come with?"

offering it a berry, the pumpkaboo nods with its whole body as it floats on over to them.
